Yes... temporarily interrupted...
I was going to write to you about the printing of a new gospel book called "Do You Make These Mistakes About the Death of Christ?" It's one that I've printed and we've begun handing out, and we've found some good response to this.
Then in Zimbabwe, we printed the "Which Road?" booklet again, and it's being distributed in the prisons there along with the blanket project that is opening doors in 12 of those prisons.
Shepherd's been having a good response from prisoners, and one man just recently came to Christ while he was there at the prison preaching.
But that is interrupted because of the most recent happening…
Yesterday morning, Monday, I was recording my WhatsApp Group audio teaching on The Big Picture of the Bible. This Thursday, I'll be teaching a group of 45 men and one woman who are involved in teaching and growing as they reach out to others with the gospel.
15,000 Malawians…
Late morning I found out that 15,000 Malawian people who were fleeing South Africa had been bussed to the Zimbabwe border and were being held there, as they wait to be processed to get across the border and eventually back to their home country.
The anti-foreigner sentiment has made them run out of fear of death. The public statements are that they're against having illegal foreigners here in the country, which is a genuine problem. But the truth is that many legally documented people ar being run out also.
Beverly and I had been warned to lay low on Tuesday, today, as I'm writing this, and stay out of the public arena while the marches and some of the violent issues have been going on.
But then I had an idea. What if we could reach those people at the border in Chichewa with the gospel?
1,000 Zimbabweans…now 500…
Shortly after I began to consider that, I heard about 1,000 Zimbabweans that were being gathered in a nearby village as they're waiting for transport to flee back to Zimbabwe. That group is now down to about 500 people as some of them have been processed.
How can we reach them?
So we began to ask, how can we reach these people and do it in their language and use this material that's prepared in English, but turn it into their language?
As I'm writing this, I'm asking you to pray with us about this. Men that are in my WhatsApp group are presently translating this material and then recording it so that they can set up their own live WhatsApp groups.
We're praying about a way to reach these folks that are here and get them in contact with the men from their home countries who will be running these groups. Then they, in turn, will be giving the gospel out.
This is a very fluid situation right now… yes, a crisis…but in every crisis there is an opportunity and a need for the gospel.
We are here for such a time as this!
So I'm asking you to pray with me. I'm in the middle of putting all of this together. There are many details, and right now, frankly, I'm swamped. But I believe that God has us here for this time, for this purpose, to get the gospel out.
Thousands of people are leaving the country, and there will be opportunities to reach them with the gospel if some of our men can set up the Whatsapp groups in their language and then make that available to these people.
I need great wisdom during this time and pray that God would give me the strength to be able to see this through to completion.
Pray for the men as well in these other countries that are working on this project with me.
Thankfully, we have laborers because of the months and years, even with some of these men that I've been working with, and they have a heart for reaching people with the gospel.
I'll tell you more in my next letter. The country is in unrest. I'm not worried about the safety here. The Bible tells us in Psalm 4:8, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." We rest in Him.
Safety is not our big issue, but the opportunity to get the gospel out is the great need. That is how we need you to pray.

What a blessed month... Our Great God has opened so many doors for us here, and I would ask that you pray with us about several of these matters.
Live Classes on Whatsapp?
About two months ago, I began testing a new program. Over the years I have written many Bible studies and worked with men long distance by written lessons and their replies. That has been useful, but it is just not the same as being there in person and interacting with them. At the same time, being there in person with everyone is difficult and sometimes impossible.
I am now working in eight different countries. In these places we have Gospel groups still going through the gospel, Growth groups made up of those who have gotten saved and are learning what a Baptist church is, and, Lord willing, some of those will begin taking steps toward becoming church missions. Those missions become part of our home church as they prepare to become independent Baptist churches.
But how do you do that with people spread across eight countries?
A couple of months ago, I started a WhatsApp group with short audio teachings. We meet live in the group, listen to a five- or six-minute audio lesson, and then communicate back and forth with questions, answers, and discussion.
I was not sure how it would go, but we now have 48 people in the group from different countries. About 40% join on any given Thursday. Others catch up during the week when they are able. The interaction has been invigorating, and the feedback has been exciting. Several men have told me privately that they know of no one else doing this, but that this is exactly what they have longed for. I am thankful for the opportunity.
Right now, we are studying the Big Picture of Scripture. I believe God is going to use this to unlock Bible truth in real ways for these men and women. This teaching ministry also gives me a better opportunity to see into their lives, recognize the serious ones, and separate out those who are only idle or looking for things.
To be in the group, they must have already finished the gospel lessons and given a testimony of being born again the Bible way. Some have given a testimony, but honestly, their salvation is still doubtful. Please pray that I will be able to get to the heart of the matter with individuals, and continue directing them in ways that will help them grow spiritually, become sound in the faith, establish strong Baptist churches in their villages, and then reach the regions beyond with the gospel.
Bible Baptist Reference Library...
The second project is the Bible Baptist Reference Library. For years I have tried to find ways to make good materials available to men. I can give individual books here and there, but for them to have a real library to draw from has been impossible. They would like printed books, of course, but the cost is extremely prohibitive. I am printing some of the more necessary books, but the rest will be digital.
I have over 300 books and booklets that I have written and am now putting into this library. My intention is to make them available to the men on a memory card they can insert into their phones. They will have an index at their fingertips covering salvation, baptism, what a church is, how to plant a church, sound biblical doctrine, and much more.
I am excited about this. We will be able to send these cards by courier into the different countries and then distribute them to men who have already shown themselves faithful. This is not something I will hand out to the average person. They must show themselves serious and busy reproducing themselves by carrying the gospel to others. That is who I work with.
Many of the men are very excited. When I told them about the coming library, they began pressuring me to have it done yesterday, of course. I still have some work to do, but I am about 75 to 80% finished. Please pray that we can complete this work.
Probably 35 to 40% of the men have phones that do not accept a memory card, so I am also preparing an online database with links where they can download the books directly to their phones as needed. That will be our workaround for men whose phones do not have memory slots.
Our desire is to give these men sound teaching, help them grow into all that God wants them to be, and see them organize in their localities. A Baptist church is more than an assembly point. It becomes an outpost of the kingdom of God, carrying the gospel to the world around them.
It is a joy to see these men so engaged, and to hear every week of people coming to Christ because of their efforts and the work of God through them.
Ministry in the Prisons of Zimbabwe...
Please also pray for the outreach in Zimbabwe. We have had an amazing response from the prison system. Those in authority have been very receptive, and the chaplains in the various prisons have been very helpful. Shepherd has been able to go into many prisons carrying the Gospel Lessons, preaching the truth, and seeing lives changed.
As some of these men are released back into the public, we hear from time to time of them carrying the gospel back to their homes and telling family and friends about Christ. There are real opportunities for churches to be started.
But we need your prayers. Pray that God would continue opening the prison doors for the gospel to go in, and also opening heart doors, so that these men do not merely make a verbal profession, but a heart profession that transforms their lives in prison and later in their villages.
This is winter season here, and the men in the prisons are struggling. The prisons are overcrowded, and many of the men are not able to sleep on beds. They sleep on the floor, whether dirt or concrete, and you can imagine how difficult that would be. Yet in the midst of that, God is faithfully using the gospel lessons so these men can hear the truth and put their eyes on what matters most... their relationship with God.

Yes…I am going to tell you of some trials…but there is great joy if you read to the end…
You may remember Alex…he has a Growth Group he is preaching to outside of Lilongwe, Malawi. This is a village work…and attendance runs about 150.
God has been so good to him in the work…first he got saved…then he began to realize so few of the ‘church people’ he knew had any idea of the gospel as it is in the New Testament.
He got a burden and began to gather groups…give them the gospel and eventually gathered each week to preach them.
Then… his wife had trouble with her pregancy and was put on strict bed rest so she had to move back in with her parents in a village far away.
He visited as he could…but stayed faithful preaching and teaching…
Then… he had a house fire and was forced to repair the house or be taken to court.
Then… the unfinished warehouse he was meeting in with the Growth Group was told they must move… the owner wanted to finish the warehouse for his business.
Then… he found a room they could rent and Mrs. Emily, a businesswoman he had led to the Lord offered to pay the rent…which she did for 3 months…
Then… on Saturday night she was killed in a traffic accident.
Alex is traveling tonight to be in the northern part of the country for the burial and to preach Christ.
He has remained faithful… through everything.
What if YOU had not been faithful in praying and giving…the gospel would not have gotten to Alex…and if Alex had not been faithful the gospel would not have gotten to Mrs. Emily and her death would have been a great tragedy. Instead she is with the Lord!
Would you pray for Alex…for his family…for the Growth Group that will eventually form into a church and for Mrs. Emily’s family in their time of sorrow?

Subject: Sickness does not hinder the Lord’s working …
I trust this letter finds each of you well.
Sickness gone…energy coming back…
We've got an overcast day here as I'm writing, which makes the morning pleasant and cool as I get out for my walk. I'm celebrating that because, as you know, I was down sick for three weeks. The first two weeks, I had trouble breathing and had to stop my walks completely. The third week, I was improving, starting to get my ability to breathe back, and the coughing eventually stopped. The only thing I'm now waiting on is my energy levels to return.
Some have suggested maybe I shouldn't expect that too quickly because of my age. But I'll have you know, I'm a young whippersnapper, and I expect my energy levels back soon. Pray with me about that if you would, please.
Sickness is an invitation to spend more time with HIM…
How often we let the physical maladies of life hold us down and keep us from service to Christ, when in truth they are opportunities to spend time with the Lord and recalibrate. While I was down sick, I took the opportunity to spend much time in prayer and Bible reading again. I love those seasons as they come. And because many of my contacts are men at a distance, I'm able to do that online, and I was able to stay in touch with a number of men, although I wasn't able to work at my normal levels due to the energy.
Printing projects…
We got our printing done in Zimbabwe of the “Which Road” booklet, the door opener that we often use in villages and in crowds, and also of the “Gospel Lessons” in both the Shona and the Ndebele language.
Evangelism Workshops in Zimbabwe…
There were two evangelism workshops that were intended to happen: one in the northern part of Zimbabwe in an area that's steeped in witchcraft and has a great need for the gospel, and the second workshop was in Bulawayo. Both workshops, by all accounts, were a grand success.
Shepherd and Danmore step in…46 men in total…
We had twenty-six men in the northern workshop. I sent Danmore, and he went with Shepherd, who led the conference.
They taught on how to use the materials as well as how to deal with people and present the gospel with clarity. It's sad to see how often the gospel is simply presented as, "You're a sinner, receive Jesus." For people that have been steeped in witchcraft and know little to nothing about Jesus except having heard the name, that means nothing except to add him to the rest of their religion. We seek to give the gospel clearly so that men might understand that Christ died in our place and came because of the love of God and the desperate condition of man that leaves us dependent on him alone.
Then they moved to Bulawayo for the second workshop with another twenty men. Again, the reports have been very encouraging. Several of these men are now going back to their respective villages and places and starting to gather people together to give the gospel out.
Pray for the laborers…
I would ask that you pray. Pray for Shepherd and Danmore, who both did an excellent job and are very encouraged to shoulder more of the work here in Africa.
Sometimes my being laid aside has benefits that most cannot see. This work here is not dependent upon me. It's dependent upon God and upon faithful men.Pray for faithfulness, and pray that they will multiply themselves over again as others are reached.
This week is my fourth week now, and though my energy levels are not 100%, they are much better. Tomorrow I will depart on a trip to Mpumalanga Province, and there I will be preaching a four-day Bible conference for Kabekweni Bible Baptist Church. I would ask that you pray for me as I'll be teaching several hours each day. I'm praying that the Lord will work in hearts, draw men to Christ, and transform lives,

God’s leadership in April…I had several trips planned, but I will need to see how my strength is after the Bible Conference.
I've been able to finish a series of 52 lessons on how Jesus dealt with souls, lessons that men can use in their churches here, and I'm praying that God will use it greatly. Not just to give them teaching material, but to stir hearts, that they might encourage others to join in the work of getting the gospel out.
Northern Malawi…
Pray if you would for Roy in northern Malawi, who is working with a man that was led to Christ through our Gospel Lessons and now has followed in scriptural baptism. He and this man are preparing to start another gospel group about an hour away and ultimately praying that God will form a church in that village.

Not sure where it came from, but I got a respiratory infection almost two weeks ago.
Today is a bit better, but I am still extremely weak.
2 Evangelism Workshops in Zimbabwe
I was supposed to leave tomorrow for two Evangelism Workshops in Zimbabwe, but I will not be able to travel.
So Danmore will go, and he and Shepherd will lead these Workshops.
They are both two day Workshops and will equip the men to begin Gospel groups in their respective areas. We have printed the Gospel Lessons in Shona and Ndebele, as well as the Which Road? booklet in both languages. The Five Pieces of Salvation book with the heart questions will also be provided for each of the men in attendance.
Although I am disappointed at not being able to travel, I am excited for both these men to lead these sessions. It will be a good time for them and I think for the Zimbabweans that will be gathering in both locations.
Please keep these meetings in prayer.
End of Month Bible Conference
Then at the end of the month Beverly and I will be traveling to Mpumalunga to preach a Bible Conference with Kabokweni Bible Baptist Church and Pastor Lunga.
I am praying I will have my strength back by then.

Kristen Nadaskay, from Lehigh Valley Baptist Church was with us over the holidays. She comes each year to be a blessing…and she always ends up accomplishing so much more than we even hope for.
· Set up the templates for the 66 Ebooks I am using to help the disciples here get into the Word everyday. Now I just need to fill in the material. :) (see below for more about this)
· Tested the Philippians 4:8 Thought Filter and helped with making needed improvements
· Set up a system for converting Ebooks on multiple issues into 14 different languages.
Ethan & Rachel
Ethan Custer, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Grand Forks, ND is famous for marrying my daughter Rachel and for raising four of my grandchildren. 🙂He and his family are coming this next week for a 2 ½ week trip to South Africa.
During their time here they will be organizing Bible Baptist Church in Toronado, SA. This work was started by the Norberg’s and they will also be here for the organization. I am looking forward to fellowship with the brethren there during the organization.
Then they will come and visit with us for the remaining time…looking forward to seeing them and taking everyone to Kruger as well as some meetings with brethren around this area.
2026 begins with a bang…
With the materials getting translated and the launching of the “Walking With God Daily Bible Reading” program I am excited at what God is putting together.
The daily time in the Word is essential for these men…and now with an organized way to helping them dig truth out of God’s Word…along with an active Whatsapp group…we have daily communication and teaching along the way on issues that come up as we read together. I provide a book on each of the 66 books of the Bible with a summary of every paragraph in the Bible, along with questions and focus on the person of God that is seen in each paragraph.
This is a huge undertaking, but already I am encouraged by the participation of the men and women.
This is a needed step in discipleship.
The plans continue for travel to the several countries to continue mentoring, discipling, teaching and encouraging as the works continue to reach out with renewed evangelistic fervor. And as they form groups of believers I am looking forward to the organizing of several Mission churches this coming year.
Please continue praying for the men in each country. Most of them face hardships that I cannot even convey in word…yet they are remaining faithful in the work before them.
Without faithful men this work would never have gotten off the ground.
Finally, I want to say “Thank you” to all of you that stand with us in prayer and in giving. I know many of the churches faced a difficult December with finances. Know that I am praying for each of you and thankful for you. God has been so good to me in allowing me to serve him here in Africa. These 15+ years have been an absolute joy…and so many of you have made that possible by your prayers. Thank you!
