Missionaries to Thailand
4/8/2026
I'd like to start off by saying "thank you" for your praying for our family and the ministry here. It seems like a common thing to say in a "prayer letter" but we often see evidence of faithful prayers on the other side of the world and want to thank YOU for praying, and thank GOD for hearing and answering as He sees fit.
Last month we were able to renew our rental contract for the Lighthouse English Center building. We were expecting a reasonable but significant increase in rent due to the rising cost of living and the ideal location of the building. In an amazing way, God allowed us to sign a five year contract with a very minimal increase in rent! Considering the current market of rental cost in Mae Sai, this is a miracle and we can see God's hand so clearly.
The month of February was a busy one for our family! The lady who teaches our children Thai twice a week had asked us to pray with her to find employment for one month while she was in between jobs. It just so happens that she has experience teaching foreigners Thai full time! So we hired her to spend a month with our family, 8 hours a day, to give us an "immersion experience" and help Alyssa and the kids to get to the next level. And they did! On many days Alyssa would spend roughly five hours in Thai conversation, while also learning how to cook Thai food and gaining more insights into Thai culture. Because we homeschool, the kids aren't around the Thai language every day. So it really helped them to have a formal lesson every afternoon and to hear the language spoken all day, every day. I also spent the afternoons with her husband conversing in Thai. It was a great opportunity for our family!
Our first week of the immersion program, our house had a major electrical problem and nearly caught on fire in several places. Had we been sleeping, I might be writing a much different letter right now. I'm very thankful to God for keeping our family safe by revealing the issue during the day! It took several days to resolve the problem, which was caused by old exposed wiring outside that was not installed properly in the past. God has been incredibly good to us!
In quite a few of our prayer letters we've mentioned a group of teens that attend on Sundays. The school year has nearly ended and they will all be returning to their families in various provinces. We thank God for the opportunity to plant seeds of the Gospel throughout this school year. Pray for them, that the seed would take root and that we would have more opportunities with them in the next school year to water the seed.
While ministry has been "slow" in the way of visitors, it's been "fast" in working with the believers concerning their daily walk with God. It's my goal to be used of God to establish a solid church that can stand even after the Lord calls me away from here. This requires tedious, but important, foundational work in spiritual growth. Pray for them! We've continued to minister the Gospel to M and MJ, as well as to Boon, a man who has visited on and off over the years. He's faithfully attended for quite a few weeks now and seems to have a seeking heart.
I'm grateful to you who pray and support the ministry here. As always, feel free to reach out to us personally if you have more questions. It's impossible to add all the details in these letters.
May God bless you!
