Missionaries to India
March 26, 2026
Dear Pastor and the Church,
“And there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed” (Jos.13:1.)
Greetings to you all from the land of India. Hope this letter finds you all in good health and spirit. As we think of the last 52 years in the field, with ups and downs in the ministry, we can only praise God for His unfailing promises and blessings in our lives and ministry. I am reminded of those verse in Lementations.3:22 and 23. “It is the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness”
Our Sunday school classes had their examinations and they were rewarded during the Sunday school anniversary in March. I have been teaching ‘Christology’ to the Adult Sunday School. I was so much encouraged to see their Zeal in studding the Word of God. The average attendance in our Adult Sunday school was about 50. It was an encouragement for me to see their eagerness to learn the Word. Praise God for them. The children and the youth are coming to the end of their school and having their final examinations these days.
We are going to have youth camp from the 6th of April for week. We pray for the salvation of souls and also pray that the Lord may call some for the full-time ministry. These days it’s hard to see young people separating themselves for the ministry. The world has a lot of things to offer for them. We shall appreciate your prayers for that. India being the largest populous country in the world, we need a lot of laborers to serve the Lord. Besides, as you know India is one of the hardest fields now. We are not free to preach in public as we used to do 50 years ago when we came to the field! That should be a matter of special prayer.
We had 12 students; from 3 different states of India graduate after an year of intense Bible training program. They stayed in the campus studding the word of God. They were trained in the outreach programs also. After the service I led the dedication prayer committing them un the mighty hands of God. We had nothing to offer them but reminded the promise of Jesus that He shall always be with them, the Word that never changes shall be with them and we the church as whole shall be with them in prayer. All these boys and girls are in their 20s. They shall appreciate your prayers.
As we prepare for our upcoming trip to the USA to attend some conferences to refresh ourselves and visit the supporting churches to report, we need your special prayers for the Lord to provide us good health to travel. As I have mentioned in my previous letter, we need a decent used car to travel. Annie with replaced knees cannot bend as she used to. Shall appreciate your prayers for all these matters. May the good Lord reward you all according to His riches in glory.
Yours in His service,
Sam and Annie Varughese. (Your missionaries to India)

Dear Pastor and the church,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. First of all let me take this time to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible love, support and prayers for me and my family during the last 53 years as a missionary in India, out of the Central Baptist Church. We are indebted to all the likeminded Independent Baptist Churches and Pastors who stood with us as a strong pillar. All those hard times in life and ministry, we felt comforts, knowing we have lot of caring and praying people behind us. It always gave us immense strength during very challenging times. Me and my wife are honoured to be a part of you all.
The month of January, we started with a new year service. Almost all our people shared with the Church how the Lord cared for them. We missed some who attended last year. But glad that they are rejoicing in the presence of our Lord. One of our young men got married in January and has been a blessing that they are serving the Lord here in the Church. Another young men will be engaged on the 21st of this month. He is also a faithful young man help play musical instrument in singing.
One of our missions have been trying to build a Church building, which is almost completed. They are poor farmers, trying to complete it by May. They are in the process of building a baptistry as some are ready to obey the Lord in baptism. What a blessing to see their zeal for the Lord and His work. Please pray for them. Also pray that the freedom to preach the truth in India may remain in spite of many oppositions.
From Rajasthan, where we used to serve the Lord, two of our members are so sick, one of them is under dialyses another one had a stroke and is paralysed from one side. He is not able to talk well and needs help even to go bathroom. Both of them are of my age, and whenever I call, they cry. I try to encourage them in the Lord by giving them some comforting scriptures. And they both need your prayers.
As I have written in my previous letter, we plan on being there at the Vanborn Baptist Church in Dearborn MI, for their conference in June. Please pray that the conference be a blessing to all, and we may have a safe journey. This year, we like to visit all those supporting Churches to give them a special thanks and a report of the ministry in India. We need journey mercies as we travel in the US, since we are not as young as we used to be. I need a car to drive, and an acommodation to stay. We used to rent a car usually, but this time since we are to stay for almost a year we think it’s better to buy a used car and sell when we return? We appreciate your prayers for all those needs and the Lord to provide those needs.
I have been suffering from some tooth issues, which are not solved completely. We need prayers for that too. Once again thanking you all for your prayers and supports,
Yours in His service,
Sam and Annie Varughese. (your missionaries to India)
